Sand
Mandala at
Imperial Gardens 2007
In
April 2007 The Imperial Gardens hosted a very special event
to assist raising funds for the Sacred Footsteps for the
Roof of the World 2007 Australian Tour
by his Holiness the Damai Lama.
PHOTOS
A Sand Mandala, one of the most amazing and culturally rich artforms
was created over a six day period by Tibetian Buddhist Monks
who patiently and lovingly take individual coloured grains of sand
and form them into avisually stunning sand masterpiece of
Tibtian spiritual symbolism.
On the sixth day with a spectacular ceremony in keeping with tradition
the artwork was destroyed. The event was an amazing sight
and was attended by many.
